The mission

Shape Their Story is a movement to make sure every child knows the beauty of who they are - and holds onto it, no matter what the world tells them.  A message that no child should feel alone, unseen, or unworthy of being exactly who they are.

It’s about shaping the story children tell themselves - the one that will guide them through life.

Through books donated to schools, charities, and local authorities, and through the voices of parents who believe in the power of shaping a child’s inner world, we are changing the narrative.

One book. One child. One story at a time.

Let's shape the story they carry.

The mum

Hi! I'm Angharad.  My name's pronounced a little like Anne Harrod, in case you were wondering. It's Welsh and means greatly loved one - in case you were wondering that too!

I'm a children's picture book author and mum to two amazing boys  (7 and 5), who are the inspiration and fire behind this movement.

There are moments in motherhood that will stay with you for life.
One of mine was the day my, then four-year-old, son told me he wanted to stop eating a certain food in his school lunch box because it was smelly.  I instantly knew these weren't his words. And I instinctively knew that this was a pivotal  parenting moment - one that could nurture the belief and strength to hold onto who he was, no matter what others around him said.

And so living the truth in your heart became a family motto and it is something that we have leaned on for the big and the small moments, remembering that holding onto who we truly are is what matters most.

The book

The book your words will find a home in will be released this summer.

This is a book that was born from the beautiful heart of my seven-year-old son, who one day came up to me and candidly expressed his future his life aspirations:

"Mummy I know what I want to do when I'm older. I want to make Pokemon come to real life. And I want to help everyone in the world live the truth in their hearts."

This book is about just that - a powerful metaphor for children to have the strength and wisdom to hold onto the truth of who they are - always.

And a powerful means of letting us mothers share our messages of what we want our children to know the most in their hearts.
